Born and raised in Massachusetts, Nancy Sorel received a degree in Theatre and Film from the University of Massachusetts / Amherst. After graduation she went to New York City and began her acting career starring in Off Broadway plays, commercials, and the role of Coco on the ABC daytime drama One Life to Live. Shortly thereafter, Nancy relocated to Los Angeles to star in the NBC daytime series Generations. She has guest-starred in numerous prime time shows, MOW’s and pilots including Beverly Hill 90210, Doogie Howser, Murder She Wrote, Empty Nest, X- Files and The Outer Limits. For two years, Nancy played the role of Sammy on Fox’s sitcom Down The Shore.
After shooting a pilot for ABC in Vancouver she met her Vancouver agent and eventually called Canada her new home. Series such as Hope Island, Beggars and Choosers, Seven Days, First Wave, The Twilight Zone, Stargate SG-I, Tru Calling, and The 4400 kept her acting career in full swing.
In Vancouver Nancy met and married her husband, manufacturer and actor, Paul Magel. Their two children came along shortly after, and they relocated to Winnipeg where her husbands’ family is located. As fate would have it, Less Than Kind was in the process of casting when she moved to Winnipeg, followed by the series Cashing In. She and her family now divide their time between Winnipeg and Vancouver. Contrary to The Weakerthans, she “Loves Winnipeg”!
