About[]

Garry Chalk is a British-born Canadian actor and voice actor with an immense resumé in television, film, theater, video games and videos. With his ability to mimic accents and his wide voice range, he has received over 1500 voice acting credits, and with his burly, bold features, he has found great success as a character actor, often playing cops and military officers, becoming a "that guy" with notable appearances in the Canadian series Cold Squad and the American series Stargate SG-1.

Born on February 17, 1952 in Southampton, Hampshire, England, Garry Chalk moved on June 17, 1957 to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada at the age of 5 where he has lived ever since. He was interested in acting and performing even as a child, beginning with a school play in which he performed at the age of eight. However, after a brief stint in the corporate business world as an adult, he returned to college to study English lit and anthropology, with his eye on being a teacher. While there, a production of Of Mice and Men convinced him to change his field of study to theater, and he has been acting ever since. "'Basically I've done everything you can think of," he says. "Singing telegrams, gorilla-grams, plays, improvisational theater, children's theater, movies, television, radio. Anything that had to do with performing, I did it. That's what I've been doing now for 25 years."

The bulk of his television credits have been voice work in animated series, including Beast Wars: Transformers and Sonic Underground. He still lives in Vancouver, where he continues to be active both in the city's thriving theatrical scene and the growing film and television industry which has led some to dub Vancouver "Canada's Hollywood". He also makes frequent animation, science fiction and comic book convention appearances.
